Ryan Gosling Workout Routine For Crazy Stupid Love



Ryan Gosling is arguably the biggest breakout star of 2011, appearing in one hit film after another. First, he won women over with his charming looks and personality in Crazy Stupid Love then he showed us all that he can be a complete badass in the action movie Drive.

This man is on a roll.

And I think I speak for everyone when I say that Ryan’s most memorable scene was when he took off his shirt in Crazy Stupid Love (it’s like you’re photoshopped!!)

The body

Ryan’s body is built with a combination of cardio and weight lifting. Ryan’s gosling’s height and weight for Crazy Stupid Love was about 6’0 and 175 pounds. I would also say that he is around 11-12% body fat judging from the clarity of his abs.

I wouldn’t say Ryan is super ripped since he still has a tiny bit of fat covering his lower stomach, but he definitely has an impressive looking body that women love.

Here’s a sample workout to help you build a body like Ryan Gosling. This program is to be done 3x per week on alternating days.

Day 1 (Chest, shoulders)

  • Flat bench press – 3 X 8 reps
  • Incline dumbbell press – 2 X 6 reps
  • Flat dumbbell flyes – 2 X 13 reps
  • Seated dumbbell press – 4 X 8 reps
  • Front lateral raise – 2 X 13 reps
  • Side lateral raise – 2 X 13 reps
  • 15 minutes of light jogging

Day 2 (Back)

  • Wide grip cable row – 5 X 6 reps
  • Single arm dumbbell row – 3 X 8 reps
  • Wide grip lat pulldown – 3 X 10 reps
  • Pull ups – 2 X failure
  • 15 minutes of light jogging

Day 3 (Legs and arms)

  • Leg press – 4 X 10 reps
  • Reverse lunges – 2 X 8 per leg
  • Jumping goblet squat – 3 X 10 reps
  • Prisoner bodyweight squats – 1 X failure
  • Barbell curl – 3 X 10 reps
  • Lying tricep extension – 3 X 10 reps
  • 15 minutes of light jogging

What the heck? No abs!!

The reason I didn’t include any direct ab workouts is because getting a six pack is more of a diet thing than a workout thing. If you are able to cut your body fat levels down to <12% then you should have no problem seeing your abs.

A lot of the exercises utilize your core anyways, so you’re still working out your core to some degree.

If you want, you can do 3 sets X 15-20 reps of lying leg raises after each workout. It’s completely optional and you should only do them if you want your abs to look super sharp.

Ryan Gosling diet

If you want six pack abs like Ryan, then you need to lose fat. There’s no other way around it.

To lose fat at a rate of about 1 pound per week, I recommend using this formula:

Daily calorie intake  = (Your bodyweight in pounds) X 12

That’s a pretty general formula, and for the most part it works just as long as you stay active and do the workouts every week. As for the types of foods you should eat, I wouldn’t over think it too much. Just stick with whole grains, fruits veggies, and meats.

Ryan Gosling really has an impressive looking body. He built up a good amount of muscle without looking like a cheesy bodybuilder. I really wish more guys would strive to look like him.
